PanAsia Poker Tour?

Been a slow and relaxing weekend for me so far and might play a few Online MTTs today. Been surfing the Web and I saw this:

http://panasiapokertour.com/

Read through he details but in a nutshell:

On Nov 3-5, 2006
PAPT is proud to announce "The PAPT Philippines Open" held at the Airport Casino Filipino in the Philippines. The tournament is open to players from all over the world. The main event will be taped and produced for a future televised broadcast.

24 hrs Live action and sit & go !

Nov 3 12 pm Registration opens
3pm $500 NL Hold'em Tournament
8pm $275 Super-satellite for the main event

Nov 4 12 pm Registration opens
2pm $2500 Main NL Hold'em Tournament 2-day event
8pm $500 NL Hold'em Tournament
10pm $10,000 Baccarat tournament

Nov 5 1 pm Registration opens
12pm the final table of main event start
2pm $500 NL Hold'em Tournament

Why haven't there been any big announcements on this (Or have there?) I mean I have heard about the WPT, the PPT but not this and this one is already in November! The buy-ins are a bit steep but it seems to be a world-class tournament geared at tournaments in Asia!! I see myself forming a team and competing in these tournaments all over Asia now!!

Truly great things are in store for Poker in our humble country. Time to hone our skills and show the world how good we can be.

Just got an email from the head organizer. Seems like a nice guy from Hong Kong:

Thank you for your support.

Look me up in the philippines. I will also be there oct 10-12. Email

WPT and PPT are peanuts...

PAPT... the nuts!

LOL

IMHO, I think this tourny can put the Philippines in the Poker map of the world, even if the buy-ins are steep this will attract players from all over the world (and maybe famous pros) I see that the satellites are well worth it to the MTT fanatic, this can indeed be one of the stepping stones the community needs so that the posers can fix their act and run world class tournies like this one... big ups to the PAPT.

did I just see 24-hr live sit-n-go's?

:)

Booyah!!!

Big buy-ins in $$$. Hmmm now I gotta step my online play and grab some more $$$ to roll with this one hehehe.

Satellites are coming up from what I heard... as well as online ones.

This sounds like a lot of fun! Better beef up the rolls to cusion this blow!

Oh, teams... hmmm interesting idea... i was thinking why not open an internet shop and have local players play for one bankroll... i am sure people would get good fast!

I already had that idea Ariel and as long as people understand that they have an additional "rake" (the online cafe charge) then I would have no qualms setting something like this at GameFrog.

I was even thinking of setting up 6-8 PCs and forming an online team.

However, for this venture, am thinking of a team that can act as a travelling group. There are 8 main events across Asia. I do wish we werent the first one in line so we could prepare though.

Still, I think there will be time to raise around P300K EACH for a bankroll that should sustain at least 2-3 trips. 30% of wins go to team and 70% to the cashing player. That way there are more chances to make the money and keep the ball rolling.

My ring game sucks, I have no MTT game, at least with SnGs i know i can get a couple of bucks...

Let's not get overboard with the BIG games... the BIG games will always be there... I personally won't take the chance of going busto for a chance of getting 'lucky' winning a big $$$... :( even let's say if i had 300k-500k in the bank. I won't go near those tournies...

oh yeah, can somebody stake me for the $10,000 baccarat tourny? I have an ultimate strategy... bet on banker all the way!

LOLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Hehehe MnlGrind - Lets use your SnG skills to win those satellites then you can sell the seats to other players!! Keep one for yourself and who knows....

Oh and I'm not saying I can easily afford P300K. Thats just an estimate I made to make the tour. Gotta save up and play a ton of poker for me to afford that as well. But heck you only live once. =P

wow they should have announced this earlier so more players can prepare for it!

ill probably be watching this event from the sidelines as $2500 isnt something i can spare for poker hehehe

I'm kinda surprised that it's only announced now when there's only a month to go (not even some advance buzz), kinda makes me doubt the promoters capability.. I do hope it pushes through, if anything should be interesting to watch...

Interestingly they also don't break down the buy-in ;-)

Hmmmm you have a good point 11finger but I do think these people would know what they're doing. Hopefully they just followed the $2500 NL WPT event format but that is a question that should be asked beforehand.

And there is one guaranteed super satellite at $275. LOL I wonder how they can hold mini satellites for this.... 10 man SNG buy in P12,000 winner take all? hehehe

If the $2500 is too rich... I may at least play the $500 tournament and see how that goes.

Erick - Yeah its an exciting thought. Gotta crunch the numbers and see if I can afford it. But this one in the Phil is the first big step. No expensive hotels and flights... plus we get to have our own cheering squads LOL

Just got this info. Not bad at all. I am assuming this is for all the events.

Payout structure

Tournament fee
1%--local charity in choice of the winner, 3%--to tournament staff, 6%--to house

Hmmm... 1% to charity... I think I'm gonna open up an 11Finger Foundation...
